About Matt Walker
I entered the mortgage industry as a loan officer way back in 1997. It's hard to believe it's been that long but those years are packed full of experiences both good and what I'd call "for learning purposes". After getting my feet wet while at school for the first few years I started a mortgage company where I learned to be a jack-of-all-trades, involved in everything mortgage, HR, IT, Marketing, Accounting - you name it. I sold that company in 2010 and joined a retail mortgage banker as an Area Manager, building and overseeing several Utah branches. A few years later I made a move to another company in a similar role, gaining more valuable experience. My latest move to Rate was carefully researched and thought out and one I see as full of potential and opportunity for my clients, my team members and myself. Ready to go! On a personal level, I've been married since 2002 to the best woman in the world, sharing three great kids. We've lived in South Jordan since 2013 and love it. I'm originally from Canada, somehow still on my skates and skis. Utah is definitely hard to beat when it comes to anything outdoors. What I love most about what I do is the people. It sounds cliche but I get great satisfaction out of providing expert, professional and friendly service to my clients. Typical feedback I'm proud of is just how comfortable they are through my process - feeling educated, in the loop and never made to feel a question was dumb or I was being bothered. If someone believes getting a mortgage is easy when we're finished I've done my job! I look forward to working together soon!
