Our first core value is “Grow for Good” simply means that the more we grow the more good we can do in the world. One of the ways we do that is through our Foundation, where Rate covers all administrative costs so 100% of every dollar we receive helps the people we serve.
Our approach
It’s our goal to offer hope to those in crisis—an opportunity to stop, take a breath and begin healing. We welcome applications directly from those in need, as well as from organizations or individuals who wish to nominate applicants. After reviewing applications, our committee grants funds with careful consideration of our ultimate goal: to provide a lasting impact on the lives of our recipients.

Kwan’s story
Total assistance: $30,000
Kwan was born with spina bifida and after undergoing a spinal surgery has been in a wheelchair since 2011. Her wheelchair is nine years old and has caused pressure sores to develop on her body. In December, she was hospitalized due to the extent of the pressure sores.
Dominique’s story
Total assistance: $30,000
When Dominique’s son, Devon, was three years old, he was caught in the crossfire of gang violence. As he and his family were leaving a get-together, a car pulled in front of theirs and began shooting. A bullet in Devon’s back left him paralyzed.
Jackie’s story
Total assistance: $18,500
Jackie worked tirelessly to get herself and her three young children out of an abusive environment—filing an order of protection and continually working with police and counselors.Then one Sunday morning, Jackie and her children were driving back from church when they saw their street was blocked off, lined with firetrucks and police cars.
Marisol’s Story
Total assistance: $30,640
Marisol’s 14-year-old son, Jaden, has down syndrome and was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. Jaden also suffers from anxiety and depression and is non-verbal. Over the past year, Marisol has been working tirelessly to decrease his gluten levels and keep him healthy, but she’s struggling to afford the high cost of certified gluten-free foods on top of all their other expenses.

Bentley’s story
Born with Angelman Syndrome, Bentley requires assistance to walk, eat and drink. The Foundation was able to cover the cost of essential ABA therapy as well as wheelchair lift for their car.
Don’s story
After an accident left Donald paralyzed his life changed forever. The Foundation was honored to step in and provide Donald with an accessible vehicle to help him get around.
Laura’s story
Laura, a survivor of domestic violence, worked with a shelter to find employment and a safe home for her children. The Foundation was honored to provide her family with 6 months of rent and a car as they start their new life.
Lauren’s story
A single mother of two children born with club feet, Lauren is doing whatever she can to help her children walk. The Foundation was able to cover the cost of reconstructive surgery and lodging.
