Chief Accounting Officer

Ken Kane

As Chief Accounting Officer, Ken Kane oversees all accounting, financial reporting, and tax functions at Rate, focusing on the company’s profitability, maximizing shareholder equity, and implementing best accounting practices. He designed and maintains a best-in-class financial reporting structure, providing Executives and external counterparties with timely statements and reliable data, as well as producing regulatory reports for federal and state agencies and licensing bodies.

In addition to developing new solutions for maximizing Rate’s bottom line, Ken is the local ambassador for the relationship with the Chicago White Sox. For more than five years, Ken has served on the Executive and Voting Boards for the Rate Foundation and is very passionate about helping individuals and families nationally in times of adversity. Ken’s favorite core value at Rate is “Best of the Best,” as he credits his accomplishments to surrounding himself with the most talented finance team in the industry.

“Originating a loan today costs more than it did five years ago, so my challenge is to find different ways to drive profitability and sustain shareholder equity,” said Ken. “What really makes this possible is Rate’s collaborative internal approach. We’re constantly evaluating processes and looking for new ways to automate, never following and always leading. Our philosophy is to move forward, to be cutting edge, and that’s what drives growth.”

Ken earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from DePaul University in Accounting and Taxation. Ken lives in Chicago with his wife, Brenda, and their three children and is an avid lover of outdoor activities, most notably golf and hiking.
