About Sebastian Bolivar
Sebastian Bolivar, VP of Mortgage Lending at Rate, is a Colombian-born, U.S.-raised mortgage expert on a mission to make mortgage financing clear, accessible, and transparent for every home buyer. Since 2018, he's helped over 550 families secure home financing, consistently earning 5-star reviews for his personalized approach.
His passion for the mortgage industry stems from his own family's experience losing their home during the 2008 crisis, after falling victims to a mortgage fraud scheme; a turning point that ignited his drive to protect others from similar hardships. That experience ignites his passion for helping others navigate the complexities of home financing, and drives his mission to make sure none of his clients or their families ever have to go through that experience but instead go through the real estate transaction fully educated on their costs, their loan program, and the benefits that homeownership and smart mortgage strategies can provide. With honesty, integrity, patience, and accountability at the core of his work, Sebastian is committed to ensuring clients are educated and empowered throughout the homebuying process.
After earning his bachelor's degree in Marketing through a soccer scholarship, Sebastian returned home to help his parents find a new home in 2018. His attention to detail and quick understanding of the mortgage process during that search impressed the loan officer responsible for helping them purchase, who immediately offered him a job. This opportunity marked the start of his career in mortgage lending, where he quickly developed a passion for helping others build wealth through real estate.
In February 2024, Sebastian joined Rate, drawn by their cutting-edge technology, vast loan programs with low rates, and the groundbreaking Language Access Program, which offers the entire mortgage process 100% in Spanish—ensuring seamless service for Spanish-speaking families like his own.
