Camilo Escalante
Executive Director Diverse Segments

Camilo Escalante serves as Rate’s Executive Director Diverse Segments, leading the company as it expands its service and marketing in diverse communities nationwide. Camilo is focused on ensuring that Rate’s loan officers are equipped to serve all borrowers, enhancing access and improving the quality of the lending experience. He focuses on growing, developing, and improving Rate's performance in all aspects of diversity, including employee culture, loan production, customer experience, and community engagement.
With over 16 years of industry experience, Camilo has earned recognition as one of the top loan producers in the country while helping thousands of families achieve homeownership in neighborhoods across the country. He was recognized as a Top 1% Mortgage Originator by Mortgage Executive Magazine from 2015 to 2018 and by the National Association of Minority Mortgage Bankers in 2017 and 2018.
“The core and driving factor of the mortgage industry is to help individuals and families make one of the most important transactions of their lives, providing capital so that they can purchase a home and build wealth,” said Camilo. “The industry, along with Rate, is invested in reaching all communities, and in particular communities of color, while attracting an even more diverse talent base within the organization. I’m excited that we’re pushing for change and I’m proud to be helping one of the leading lenders in the country create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive housing industry.”
A Chicago native, Camilo sits as the Regional Government Affairs Director for the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, a non-profit organization with a mission to advance sustainable homeownership. In this role, Camilo drives and coordinates lobbying efforts across all the Midwest chapters that advocate for better housing, immigration and access to credit policy.
“My mother always used to say ‘para arriba y para adelante,’ which means onwards and upwards,” said Camilo. “Rate and its Executive Leadership understand that thinking big and constantly looking for ways to improve is the only way to reach our true potential and create an accessible and inclusive mortgage experience for all communities and borrowers.”
